It's been a busy start to the summer at Steinway & Sons—already we've seen the launch of a new Special Collections piano, a series of exciting performances on our new player system Spirio, and the unveiling of the 600,000th piano to bear the Steinway name. Our Artists are touring worldwide, our dealers are more energetic than ever, and our roster of All-Steinway Schools continues to grow. Most importantly, the magic of Steinway pianos continues to light the lives of millions of people each and every one of these sultry summer days.     Unveiled: Steinway & Sons' 600,000th Piano, the Fibonacci
    In June, Steinway unveiled its 600,000th piano, an art case Model D stunningly designed by master artisan Frank Pollaro. The piano's veneer features the iconic Fibonacci spiral made entirely from six individual logs of Macassar Ebony, creating a fluid design that represents the geometric harmony found in nature.

    The dynamic new Onyx Duet Steinway piano is the latest addition to our Special Collections line.

    Steinway Hall to be Designed by Annabelle Selldorf
    Renowned architect Annabelle Selldorf—well known for her work designing art galleries and luxury residences—has been selected to design the new Steinway Hall in Midtown Manhattan. "She knew intuitively how to light the piano, how to make it the hero of the space," said Steinway CEO Michael Sweeney. "All too often architects make their own architecture the hero."

    Spirio Hits Italy and UK with Help from Steinway Artists
    Spirio, Steinway's factory-installed, high-resolution player piano, made its first appearance this spring, and already it's been a featured element of performances by Steinway Artist Jason Moran in Italy and Steinway Artist Simon Mulligan in London.     Jon Batiste Teams Up with Colbert
    Juilliard-trained Steinway Artist Jon Batiste has been selected as bandleader for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Read the full story!

    New All-Steinway Schools
    Steinway & Sons extends congratulations to a number of institutions which have recently become All-Steinway Schools. Click on school names for more information.     Alan Feinberg's New Release
    Explores Fugue
    The Steinway & Sons label released Steinway Artist Alan Feinberg's newest disc, Fugue State, in early July. This latest recording from one of today's most inventive and daring pianists evolved from his love of the fugue form. Read more.

    Clean Sweep—A Steinway Triumph
    At the renowned XV International Tchaikovsky Competition, all six finalists—including the ultimate champion Dmitry Masleev—played their way to victory on a Steinway & Sons piano. In fact, two of the six finalists began the competition on another brand of piano and switched to Steinway & Sons. Find the full story here.

    Olga Kern: Live from the Factory Floor
    The "Live from the Factory Floor" performance series at the Steinway & Sons factory in New York invites selected Steinway Artists to the factory for live shows performed for the entire Steinway production staff. In this video from Olga Kern's performance in June, she talks about her admiration for—and connection with—the music of Immortal Steinway Artist Sergei Rachmaninoff.
